Bee Cave, TX
Designing a raised bed garden in Bee Cave is a tricky feat, even for the experienced gardener. This west Austin area is a beautiful region known for it’s rolling hills and lots of rocky soil. Gardening here isn’t for the faint of heart.
We found the perfect spot against an unused area, at the corner of a retaining wall.
With two modern trellises, painted a gorgeous color to compliment her home, custom drip irrigation, the highest quality blend of garden soil and organic, happy plants, this client now has a totally custom kitchen garden set up to match her life and style. It’s designed to last for years with expertly selected plants that will do great in this warm season.

We staked out the outline, not just of the raised bed, but of the platform border we were building to set her bed at level.

The official "before" picture! At this point, we sent her a design and quote, which she approved. Yeehaw! Time to get busy! Her installation began about 3 weeks later.

Gravel and soil delivered! We order in bulk rather than bags as often as possible because it's better for the earth (fewer plastic bags), and better on the budget!

The view from the top of the retaining wall looking down. The gravel matches her existing hardscape perfectly!

Put the raised bed in place. Check and double check all the dimensions, borders, and of course - the leveling!

A local woodworker in Georgetown made this bed totally custom, painted to match her home. Isn't is gorgeous?

Adding the soil! We only provide the best quality blended soil from local producers. And my, oh my, what a difference good soil makes!

Adding two modern trellises she helped pick out - love her choice! These things are absolutely gorgeous!

Plants installed!

Talla and her 2 year old daughter helped plant when it was time. It was such a lovely experience!

Cucumbers, peppers, melon, basil, thyme, chives, rosemary, native pollinator-attracting flowers and more fill the space!

Our next step will be to stain the border wall to again, match the modern aesthetic of her home. Stay tuned!

This garden looks like it was meant to be here all along!

And just a few short weeks later, this garden has exploded!

Talla's happy plants are spilling over the side!

She is growing herbs, flowers, cucumbers, melon and shishito peppers
