Happy 6th Birthday to a budding food grower!
Aaron loves to grow things. His Mom supports him with many little “projects” of seeds and sprouts hanging in the windows and on shelves throughout the house. He gazes in amazement at the process of nature and explodes with excitement with every new germinated seedling!
In the Spring of 2020, they built their own garden with melons and peppers! But this Summer got a little out of control. It got hot. Like most families, they got busy. Aaron’s parents were especially busy expecting Aaron’s (second) little sister to be born. Nine months pregnant, two small children and a garden full of weeds! Oh no!
Aaron’s 6th Birthday came in October, just before second little sister was due to be born and his Mom wanted a great birthday present that this little farmer would love.
So she had us over!
We cleaned out the weeds and added a high-quality, organic compost to fill the bed and enrich their soil. Little Aaron also received a kit with organic products and plants. Aaron was excited to select which plants he got to grow in his Winter Garden: Lettuce, carrots, radish, spinach and sugar snap peas were all in the plan!
Then at delivery, we taught Aaron how to transplant his new seedlings, properly plant seeds, label them and care for them. We also provided a custom-built trellis so their peas this Winter and their melons next Spring have a place to grow.
We are so pumped they now have a better set up for little Aaron to feed his love of learning and feed their growing family!
“Hilary Madsen is amazing!! We went from having everything in our garden dying or getting eaten to now having multiple meals-worth of salad growing in our tiny garden. She's the best!”
